RESULTS
SEATTLE, Wash. – Mikel Smith set a new Great Northwest Athletic Conference record and broke his own school record in the high jump as the Saint Martin's University men's and women's track and field team competed in Seattle, Wash., at the UW Preview.
Smith became the first high jumper in GNAC history to jump 7-feet. Smith had a third-place mark of 7-00 1/2, which broke his own school record of 6-9 set in December in the first meet of the indoor season. Smith broke the GNAC indoor mark of 6-10 1/4. Smith hit the jump on his third attempt. Valley Royal's Mike Mason and Evergreen State's Anthony Johnson also hit the mark of 7-00 1/2. Mason cleared the jump on his first attempt to take first, while Johnson hit the mark on his second jump to take silver.
Matt Dehan broke the school record in the pole vault with a mark of 15-9. He finished tied for ninth in the event and broke the school record of 14-10 set last season by teammate
Joey Keeton.
Frank Krause finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.21. He finished behind the time of 1:52.70 set by USC's Robert Ford.
The Saints will be back in action next weekend in Pullman, Wash., at the WSU Open.
