COMPLETE RESULTS
Porter, who stayed with the leader's pack for most of race, slipped behind Eileen Stressling from Azura Pacific before rallying in the final 60-meters to barely reclaim fifth and her second All-American award.
"This was Shannon's race and she knew it. This is her favorite event on the track. She bettered both her time and place in today's race compared to last year" said head coach
Jim Brewer. "She was more assertive in this race consistently staying in the top five throughout the race. With 600 to go a couple people went by her but with her final lap she came back passing one runner with 60 meters to go. She then shifted gears once again and caught the 5th place runner at the line. Porter has had an excellent weekend and represented Saint Martin's well. I am very proud of her. She has worked very hard and definitely deserved this award".
Porter earned all four points that the Saint Martin's women's team won while Mikel Smith's National Championship High Jump earned all 10 points for the men.Â
