Prentice was a two-time indoor track & field All-American in the 800 m earning a third-place finish at the 2006 NCAA Championships. He claimed four individual GNAC track & field championships including back-to-back titles in the 800 m in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 he was selected as the NCAA Division II West Region Athlete of the Year as well as GNAC Athlete of the Year and GNAC Conference Meet Athlete of the Year for indoor track & field. Prentice still holds three schools records and has the fourth fastest 800 m indoor time in GNAC history. He earned nine all-conference honors (7 in track & field and two in cross country) while also earning all-region honors in cross country.
