From 1949 to 1957, Jack Monahan coached football, basketball, track and baseball at Saint Martin’s High School. His teams competed against much larger schools as Washington had only A and B divisions at the time and SHS competed as an A school. Monahan was Saint Martin’s High School’s most successful coach. His 1956 football team won the conference title and was ranked 9th in the state. His 1957 basketball team won the conference title and his 1957 track team won the conference title and the Catholic Northwest championship. He was inducted into Saint Martin's Hall of Fame in 1995.
