John Donahue starred for Saint Martin’s College for three years in football and was an Evergreen Conference all-star quarterback. He was cited as the “The most polished plaer in the conference.” He also won three letters in basketball and led the 1940 team which led the nation in defense, allowing an average of only 46 points per game. After earning his teaching certificate at Western Washington, he compiled an outstanding record in 27 years as basketball coach at Elma High School. He was inducted into Saint Martin's Hall of Fame in 1991.
