After service in the Navy in World War II and after attending Grays Harbor College, Bob Basich transferred to Saint Martin’s College and played football. In 1948 and 1949, he was a unanimous Little All-American and All-Evergreen Conference center in football. He was named captain of the 1949 team. He was aslso the catcher and second baseman for the baseball team. An excellent student and active student leader, he was named to the Who’s Who in American Colleges. After graduation from Saint Martin’s, he taught for 17 years in the Aberdeen School District. He was then a teacher and coach at Grays Harbor College for 16 years. In 1992, Basich was in his fourth term as a member of the Washington House of Representatives. He was inducted into Saint Martin's Hall of Fame in 1992.
