Saints Cross Country Volunteers At Local School

LACEY, Wash. - Last week, the Saint Martin's Cross Country team traveled to Cornerstone Christian to help the school with their relocation as part of the University's year of Community.

Cornerstone Christian had been functioning at Black Lake Camp for several years before needing to make the move to a new location in Lacey. The Saint Martin's assisted in this process by cleaning, helping organize inventory and more.

"This was a great opportunity to continue to instill the Benedictine values of service for our athletes," said head coach Jim Brewer. "I am really proud of our Saints willingness to serve. I know the principal and teachers of the school were really appreciative of our help. As a team, we are looking forward to the school's new location as it will be very close to Saint Martin's. There will be additional opportunities for our student-athletes to be involved with Cornerstone."

"It was humbling to give back to those who have helped you," said Olivia Abbot.

"It was a good, fun way to give back and invest in the future of the community," said Cassie LaBrake.

"I felt like we were giving back and strengthening the bonds of solidary in our community," said Guillaume Tabary
