"This game was a huge improvement from the first time we played them" said head coach
Tim Healy. "Once again; however, our inability to put the ball in the basket cost us dearly".
Johansson led all Saints with 11 points on 3-13 shooting, collecting nine rebounds and three assists. Drey added eight points, connecting on all four shots, and seven boards, five on the offensive end. Victor came off the bench with nine points and six rebounds.
As a team, SMU finished the night 16-49 (.327) from the field, 1-9 (.111) beyond the arc and 8-16 (.500) at the free throw line. The Saints tallied 39 rebounds, seven assists, with 14 points off the bench and 24 in the paint.
The Saints held Simon Fraser to 57 points, their lowest total in any conference game, on 22-64 (.344) shooting, 8-24 (.333) from deep and 5-8 (.625) from the charity stripe.
"We played well enough defensively and had a great offensive game plan but you can't expect to beat quality teams shooting 32 percent" said Healy. "it has been a frustrating stretch but I give the girls credit as they had a good week of practice and remain positive".
