Nighthawks Power Past Saints – Against the high flying offense of Northwest Nazarene, the Saints were unable to find a way to quiet the bats, falling 9-1 and 8-4, on Friday.

The Nighthawks (12-2, 2-0 GNAC) connected on four home runs, with three coming from Maia McNicoll to power past the Saints (8-6, 0-2 GNAC). Saint Martin's after starting the year 7-1, have dropped five of the their last six, all coming on the road.

Bats Go Quiet In Saints' Loss To Northwest Nazarene - The bats for Saint Martin's never got going as the Saints suffered back-to-back shutout losses to close the four-game series against Northwest Nazarene.

Saint Martin's (8-8, 0-4 GNAC) limited the high-scoring offense of Northwest Nazarene (14-2, 4-0 GNAC) to only seven runs on the day. However, the Saints' fell in both ends, 4-0 and 3-0, extending their losing streak to six straight.

Sweeping GNAC AwardsKylee Vanderbout and Tia Ridings captured the opening week's GNAC Batter and Pitcher of the Week awards respectively. Vanderbout connected on two game-changing hits in the doubleheader, starting with a bases-loaded double that drove in three runs, and broke open the first game. In the second game, she hit a two-run blast in the second inning to cap off her five RBI day. Ridings pitched a complete game shutout, only allowing five hits, and striking out five. Ridings blanked the Boxers, and led the Saints to a 3-0 victory.

Defense Wins Championships – The Saints boast the best defense in the GNAC, second with a team fielding percentage of .967.

Talk About A First Impression – Freshman Tia Ridings and Britney Patrick wasted no time making an impact in the opening weekend. Ridings tossed her first career complete game shutout, while Patrick went 4-for-8 at the plate with four runs scored.

Out Of The Gates Hot – The Saints began the non-conference schedule on fire, winning seven of their first eight games, including five in a row. They feature wins over Pacific, Whitworth, and Montana State Billings.

Beep Beep, Zoom Zoom – The Saints were an unstoppable force on the base paths this season. SMU has recorded 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts, and rank second in the GNAC in stolen bases.

Breakout Behind The Plate – In 2020, Julia Lucas established herself as one of the top catchers in the West Region. After hitting .143 in 2019 with 0 home runs and three RBIs, Lucas hit .380 with one home run, and 10 RBIs in just 50 at-bats in 2020.
