TACOMA, Wash. – In the opening meet of 2021, the Saints' track and field program came away with multiple first place finishes in events across the board.
Makiya Worthy earned her first victory of the year in the 100m dash with a time 12.46 seconds.
Margaret Zilla broke the 5-meter mark in the long jump, coming away with a first place finish at 5.08m.
Josh Schulz captured the title in the long jump with his mark of 6.67m, and
Jocelyn Saribay wiped the field in the shot put with a toss of 11.54m.
Gabriel Cintron took second overall in the 100m hurdles with her time of 16.20 seconds, while
Cassidy Walchak-Sloan placed third in the 800m at 2:20.44 minutes. In the women's high jump,
Ashley Vest and
Annika Briggs took second and third respectively with their heights of 1.55m and 1.45m.
Michael Russell and
Jack Farrell nearly took home victories in the 200m dash and 800m run respectively with second place finishes.
Andrew Alfred also took second in his event with a 4.15m showing in the pole vault.
Overall, there was no team scoring in the meet with athletes from Seattle Pacific, Pacific Lutheran, and Puget Sound competing.
