PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – Earning their first trip the NCAA National Championship since 2005, the Saints were unable to find their footing in the opening round.

Playing at the PGA National course, a par 72, the Saints battled difficult wind conditions, along with an unforgiving course layout.
Max Turnquist led the way for the Saints, shooting eight over par, 80, and tied for 54th overall. He recorded his lone birdie on the day on 18, where he shot just three over par on the back nine.
Nick Baker began his day with a birdie, as the junior went for 82 and was second best on the team. On the front nine, Baker looked to have found his game, going just three over par.
Tyler Fitchett teed off last for the team, and shot an 87 on the day.
Dennis Geissler and
Jordan Terada wrapped up the Saints' card, both shooting an 88, with Geissler birding the 10th hole.
Saint Martin's (337) sits seven strokes back of Fayetteville State, and 14 back of Colorado Pueblo. Arkansas Tech leads the field with their seven over par, 295.
