COMPLETE RELEASE
Fitchett led the Saints in 2021 with arguably the greatest season ever by a Saints' men's golfer. During the year, Fitchett led the GNAC in scoring average (73.8), and entered the GNAC Championships, as the favorite to win the individual championship.
The lefty did not disappoint as not only did Fitchett become the second Saint in program history to win the GNAC Individual Championship with a score of two under par, and three shots better than second place, he helped lead the Saints to their first ever GNAC Team Championships. Fitchett was named the GNAC Player of the Year, and a first team All-Conference selection.
Saint Martin's qualified for the NCAA Regional, hosted once again at The Home Course, where Fitchett and the Saints took second overall (highest finish in school history) and Fitchett finished 11th overall.
With their second-place finish, Saint Martin's qualified for their first NCAA National Championship since 2006. He helped lead the Saints to their highest finish ever (15th overall) at the NCAA National Championships, and Fitchett placed tied for 52nd overall.
Fitchett was one of nine golfers selected to the West region team, and was one of only two from the GNAC.
