BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Traveling to the sixth-ranked Western Washington, the Vikings proved to be too much for the Saints to overcome, falling 81-48 on Tuesday night.

The Saints (11-13, 3-11 GNAC) struggled to break the defense of the Vikings' (18-3, 10-3) defense, being limited to 20-for-50 shooting.
Rian Clear led the way for the Saints with 11 points, followed by strong contributions off the bench from
Iternite Reed and
Josie Matz with nine points each.

Western Washington jumped out to an early 7-2 before a 3-pointer from
Lauryn Morris, and a basket by
Claire Dingus tied the game up at 7-7 midway through the quarter. However, the Vikings scored the next 13 points of the game, to take the lead back.

Saint Martin's closed out the first quarter scoring seven of the last 10 points, but the offense went cold in the second quarter. A basket from
Tierney DeDonatis was the only points of the frame as WWU took a 39-16 lead into half.

The Saints were unable to climb back into the game in the second half. The Vikings' defense stood strong throughout the third quarter. Saint Martin's offense began to click in the final ten minutes, nearly outscoring the Vikings 25-22.

The road trip continues for the Saints as they travel to Alaska for a Thursday night matchup against the Nanooks. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 PM with live stats and video on smusaints.com.
