LIVERMORE, Calif. – Playing in difficult conditions,
Dennis Geissler's one-over par, 73, highlighted by an eagle, topped the Saints' scorecard in the opening round of the Northwest Nazarene Invitational.

Geissler's 73 placed him tied for ninth out of 88 golfers in the field. He began the day with seven pars in the first eight holes before the highlight of the day for the Saints. On the par-5 ninth hole, Geissler carded an eagle to finish the front nine one-under par. He wrapped up the afternoon with seven straight pars.
Tyler Fitchett finished second on the team at 76, leading the way with four birdies, and going two-over par on both the front and back nine.
Max Turnquist (80),
Jordan Terada (81), and
Ethan Finau (82), finished all next to each other in the standings, and combined for five birdies.
"Tough conditions today with the wind," said head coach
Kevin Bishop. As a team, we are just having a tough time putting four good scores together at the same time. Very solid round for Dennis today."
As a team, Saint Martin's finished at 310 and placed 12th overall in the standings. The Saints hold leads over Academy of Art, Northwest Nazarene, Dominican, and Chaminade.
