LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's volleyball team faced the Central Washington Wildcats and lost 3-1.
Saint Martin's (9-4, 0-4 GNAC) and CWU (7-4, 2-1 GNAC) clashed in an exciting GNAC game that resulted in the Wildcats taking the first two sets, the Saints winning the third, and Central Washington closing out the set and match in the fourth.
CWU got the lead early and controlled the entire first set on their way to taking the set 25-12.
Saint Martin's found their footing in the second set battling the Wildcats the entire set before Central Washington pulled away late and won the second set 25-21.
The Saints built on their momentum in the last set and halted the Wildcats momentum by taking set three 25-22.
In the fourth set CWU jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the set before
Tia Allen stopped the bleeding with back-to-back kills. Central Washington went on to win the set 25-10 and the match 3-1.
Tia Allen led the way for Saint Martin's with 18 kills and eight digs. Behind her,
Jennifer Soha was second in kills with nine.
Abigail Halstead lead the team in digs with nine to go along with her two assists.
Karla Soto had 34 assists in the contest and led the team in aces with two.
Saint Martin next match will be their final out of conference contest against Linfield on Tuesday, September 20 at 6 p.m. Live stats and video will be available on smusaints.com.
