Box Score LACEY, Wash. – The 2023 Saint Martin's women's volleyball team (14-8, 7-5 GNAC) is continuing to go down as one of the best teams in program history as they demolished Northwest Nazarene (10-11, 6-7 GNAC) by a score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-21) for the first ever sweep over the Nighthawks to clinch the winningest season in team history.
The Saints started off with a dominating first set that saw the Saints hitting .517 and building a 17-5 lead in the blink of an eye. Set two was a different story as it was back and forth until it ended up at 23-23.
Sirena Peredo then slammed down a kill followed by two miscues from the Nighthawks that won the set for SMU. In the third set,
Karla Soto finished it off with an ace to clinch the sweep. Peredo led the way with a total of 14 kills for the Saints, followed by
Emily Garten with 12. Soto distributed the ball with efficiency totaling 36 assists, while both Soto and Peredo had 10 digs.
The Saints head north this week as they do battle with the Nanooks of Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday, November 2
nd. That game is slated to start at 7 PM.
