PORTLAND, Oreg. - Anjel Galbraith, the star guard of the Saint Martin's women's basketball team, has been named to the second team All-GNAC for her outstanding performance in the 2022-23 season. The recognition comes as no surprise, as Galbraith has been a key player for the team throughout the season, leading them to a strong finish.
Galbraith started all 26 games of the season and was a consistent scorer, leading the team with an impressive 15.4 points per game. She also showed her versatility by contributing to other aspects of the game, on top of the rest of the team in both assists (145) and steals (64), as well as grabbing 88 rebounds.
Galbraith's scoring ability was on full display in several games this season, including two 30-point performances, one against Evergreen State in December, and another against Alaska in February. She also had a season-high 13 assists in a win against Simon Fraser in February.
Her efforts on the court did not go unnoticed, as she was named the GNAC Player of the Week once during the season after that 30-bomb versus Evergreen State where she also had nine assists and six steals, going 11-12 from the field in the contest.
In addition to her individual accolades, Galbraith played an instrumental role in the team's success this season. After starting conference play 0-6, Saint Martin's finished with a 6-12 record in the conference, including numerous upsets and the first SMU win over Alaska-Anchorage since 2013.
Galbraith's inclusion on the All-GNAC second team is a testament to her hard work and dedication throughout the season. She has proven herself to be one of the top players in the conference.
