BELLINGHAM, WA - The Saint cross country teams head out to Bellingham Washington for the Bill Roe Invite, the second meet of their season.
As the Saints gear up for their meet on Saturday, we took the chance to get Coach Matt Lowe's opinion on what SMU is hoping to achieve this weekend. This is what Coach Lowe had to say, "We're really excited to see where our new fitness level will take us through this race. Our runners have endured some very tough training over the last several weeks. Our team backing off this week will help us be more fresh and ready to race fast, especially now that we're within the window to potentially gain at-large bids that factor in qualifying teams for the national championships. It's also incredible to see quite a few GNAC teams appearing at this meet, and it will feel like a pre-GNAC championship race. I'm excited to see how our teams measure up against our conference rivals. We're fresher and stronger, and we're ready to go!"
SMU started off their season with a successful meet on September 9th out at Monmouth Oregon, SMU's women's team placing overall second with a team average of 19:12 with a spread of 2:26 in the women's 5k. SMU's men's team took overall fourth with top sevens average time being 19:21 with a spread of 2:02 for the men's 6k. Saint Martin's will now head out to Bellingham Washington for the Bill Roe Invite on Saturday to keep that success going.
