Gritty Finish Pushes Saints Past Red Leafs

LACEY, Wash. – The Saint Martin's women's basketball team grinded out a win over their north-of-the-border foes Saturday night, achieving a 59-55 victory over Simon Fraser University.

Sarah Lamet was a key figure in a second half spurt that got her up to 16 points, while Keeli Jade Smith had 12 points and Shalyse Smith had 11. Anjel Galbraith was the architect of the offense per usual with seven points to go along with six assists and three steals. Shalyse Smith led the way rebounding with seven boards. It was another defensive masterclass by SMU allowing only four points in the first quarter and forcing 18 total turnovers. Late in the game, Keeli Jade Smith and Lauryn Morris each knocked down their pair of clutch free throws to ice it.
