Lacey, WA – Saint Martin's softball team battled it out with Northwest Nazarene here in Lacey Washington on Friday and Saturday. The Saints also celebrated four seniors which were #2 Tia Ridings, #5 Destiny Conerly, #7 Vanessa Smoke and #10 Britney Patrick. They celebrated this during their senior day on Saturday. 

The Saints started the first match up with NNU on Friday at one pm. The match up remained scoreless till the top of the third when NNU scored the first run. In the bottom of the third #23 Ashley Goodale singled up the middle. As the game continued the Saints started up more action in the bottom of the fourth #15 Shelby Lawson singled up the middle. The next inning in bottom of the fifth, the Saints started up the bats when #7 Vanessa Smoke singled to right field, following her later was #23 Ashley Goodale singled through bunting, advancing Smoke. In the bottom the seventh the Saints started to rally when #27 Mia Zachary singled by bunt, the Saints scored their first run when #10 Britney Patrick doubled down the right field line scoring Zachary. After a hard fight the Saints couldn't gain the lead and NNU took the first game of the series.

The second game against Northwest Nazarene, the Saints pushed to gain the lead but couldn't secure it losing the second game of the series. In the bottom of the first inning the Saints started off strong, the batting started off with #10 Britney Patrick singling to shortstop, this moved #26 Heather Ebner to second. The next batter #15 Shelby Lawson reached on a fielder's choice, advancing Patrick but Ebner was out at third. The first run was scored when #22 Amanda Peterson singled to right center batting in Patrick. The Saints kept the lead and lengthened it in the bottom of the second when #7 Vanessa Smoke was walked and after her #4 Kekai Schultz singled down left field line advancing Smoke to second. On the ground out by Zachary the runners advanced putting them in scoring position. Next up to bat was #23 Ashley Goodale, she doubled down the right field line scoring Schultz and Smoke. This brough the Saints to three in the bottom of the second and NNU zero. NNU started to battle back in the top of the fourth and fully gaining the lead in the top of the sixth. The Saints tried to battle it out and take the lead in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't come back and take the lead.

On Saturday which was senior day as well for the Saints, NNU and SMU started the third game of the series. This game against NNU the Saints didn't manage to score but they got some good hits in. In the bottom of the third Zachary singled by a bunt. In the bottom of the sixth Goodale singled bunting. In the bottom of the seventh Lawson singled up the middle. NNU took the win with two runs.

In the game after the senior day celebration SMU played their hardest and took the win against NNU in the fourth and final game of the series. Starting out in the bottom of the first #26 Heather Ebner homered to right center, this started this inning for the Saints with a bang. In the bottom of the second the runs kept scoring. To start out #15 Shelby Lawson singled to left center, following her later was #5 Destiny Conerly doubling to right field and scoring #15 Shelby Lawson. The next Saint to come up to the plate was #27 Mia Zachary who reached on an error and Conerly advanced to third, #23 Ashley Goodale singled to the shortstop advancing Zachary and scoring Conerly. NNU continued to try and fight but the Saints kept them at bay. In the end NNU wasn't able to score a run and the Saints took the win on senior day to end the series.
