BELLINGHAM, WA — Saint Martin's Women's Basketball (11-8, 4-6 GNAC) headed up to Bellingham to face Western Washington on Thursday evening in a rematch from just a few weeks ago.
The Saints were led offensively by
Jada Travis, who put up 20 points while going 6-7 (85.7%) from the arc. This marks her 15th double-digit scoring game of the season contributing to the true freshman's impressive rookie campaign.
Sarah Lamet earned a season-high of 15 points along with five rebounds and a block. Defensively, the Saints would record 34 rebounds and nine steals throughout the contest.
Kiana Rios led the team with seven rebounds while both
Avery Oaster and
Iternite Reed collected three steals each. Even with the players' contributions on both sides of the ball, the Vikings would keep their pace up to continue to get points on the scoreboard. Saint Martin's would struggle to keep up and would end the half trailing 37-29.
The Saints would return from the half not as in-rhythm as they had been earlier in the game, only recording nine points throughout the third quarter.
Keeli Jade Smith and
Madelyn Brown would combine 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists as they would try to help Saint Martin's get back into the contest, but Western Washington's offense would continue to extend its lead. The Saints would not be able to match the output of the Vikings and SMU would ultimately fall 79-56 to WWU in their second meeting this season.
SMU Women's Basketball is back in action this Saturday as they take on the Simon Fraser Red Leafs at 1:00 PM in Burnaby, British Columbia. You can get tickets
