LACEY, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Women's Basketball team was victorious over The Evergreen State Geoducks by a score of 93-42 at Marcus Pavilion on Tuesday, November 25.
The Saints shot a stellar 48.6% from the field, converted 11-11 free-throws, and held a massive 45-21 rebounding advantage, as SMU defeated Evergreen State handily. The win improved the Saints' record on the season to 4-3 overall.
How It Happened
- The Saints set the tone in the first quarter, out-scoring the Geoducks 30-8, shooting 57.14% from the field.
- SMU opened the game on a 10-0 run, and built up a 22-point advantage by the end of the first 10 minutes. The Saints converted five three-pointers in the first quarter, scored by four different players.
- The second quarter was more of the same, as Saint Martin's shot 52.94% from the field and went 4-8 from three point range, out-scoring Evergreen State 26-8. A strong offensive output saw the Saints take a 56-16 lead into halftime.
- Saint Martin's controlled the tempo in the second half, and held a 19-9 advantage in the third quarter and 18-17 edge in the final frame. SMU shot 8-18 (44.44%) in the third quarter and 6-16 (37.5%) in the fourth, finishing 48.6% from the field as a team.
Top Performers
- Kiana Rios scored a season-high 25 points, shooting 9-11 from the field and 6-7 from three-point range. She also added five rebounds, two assists, and one steal across 26 minutes played.
- Jada Travis scored 20 points off 7-13 shooting, while also adding seven boards, four steals, and six assists.
- Avery Oaster totaled a team-high eight rebounds, while also adding 14 points, three steals, and three assists.
