BURNABY, B.C. — Saint Martin's Softball (27-12, 12-7 GNAC) headed north to take on the Red Leafs in the team's final road series of the regular season.
The opening game was a tight battle, with the Saints falling just short in a 1-2 loss. The lone run came thanks to a key at-bat by
Amanda Peterson, who delivered a clutch hit that brought
Ashley Goodale across the plate. The Saints fought hard, but could not quite crack the opposing pitcher late in the game. Game two was all Saints, as the bats came alive in a convincing 9-3 win.
Shelby Lawson led the charge with a towering home run and totaled three RBIs on the day.
Kekai Schultz added two RBIs of her own, and Peterson continued her hot weekend with two RBIs, helping the Saints put the game out of reach early and never look back.
In game three, the Saints were held scoreless in a 0-9 loss, with the Simon Fraser defense playing nearly flawless softball. Despite the quiet scoreboard, Goodale stood out by recording two hits and continuing to be a reliable presence at the plate. The final game of the weekend was a shootout, with both teams piling on the runs. The Saints put up 11, but it wasn't enough as they fell 11-19. Schultz was on fire, leading the team with a game-high five RBIs and scoring twice. Peterson stayed consistent with two RBIs, two hits, and two runs, while Lawson contributed three runs and an RBI of her own.
The Saints will be back in action this weekend as they take on the Western Oregon Wolves on Saturday, April 26th, for Senior Day, and Sunday, April 27th. Get more information
