Carbaugh named Saint Martin’s University Assistant Athletic Director of Communications

LACEY, Wash. — Saint Martin's University announced the hiring of Davis Carbaugh as the new Assistant Athletic Director, Communications on Monday, August 18. His first day will be on Monday, August 25.

"We're thrilled to welcome Davis Carbaugh to Saints Athletics as our new Assistant Athletic Director, Communications," Athletic Director Theresa Hanson said. "His experience, passion for storytelling and commitment to excellence makes him a tremendous addition to our team. We look forward to the energy Davis will bring as we continue to elevate the visibility and success of our student-athletes and programs."

Carbaugh spent the 2024-25 academic year at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in River Falls, Wisconsin, serving as assistant sports information director. At UWRF, Carbaugh was responsible for the communications efforts of 10 of the school's athletic programs. Carbaugh's duties included press releases, feature writing, gameday statistical operations, and social media content.

At Saint Martin's, Carbaugh will oversee the external media operations for the university's 13 varsity sports programs. He will manage the athletic department's public relations and communications efforts, working to promote the SMU athletic programs and student-athletes.

Before UW-River Falls, Carbaugh spent two years at Temple University in Philadelphia, serving as a communications assistant while attaining his Master of Science in Sport Business. At Temple, Carbaugh worked with the football, women's basketball, women's rowing, women's track, men's and women's cross country, and men's crew teams.

Prior to his work in sports information, Carbaugh spent just over a year as a sports and news reporter at the La Grande Observer in La Grande, Oregon. Carbaugh covered high school and college sports, focusing on feature stories, game coverage, previews, recaps, and breaking news.

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Carbaugh earned his bachelor's degree in multimedia journalism at Virginia Tech. He spent four years working for the Collegiate Times, the student-run newspaper at Virginia Tech, where he covered a multitude of Hokies sports.
