ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Saint Martin's men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2025 season at the Central Washington Opener, facing the Wildcats in a head-to-head matchup on Saturday, September 6.
On the women's side, SMU scored 44 points. The men's team scored 47.
Freshman Kekaihulali Halpern was Saint Martin's top placer on either side, finishing second in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 19:06.2. Freshman Samantha Schweppe also placed top-10 in the women's 5,000 meters, placing 10th with a time of 20:37.3.
On the men's side, senior Eli Dale led the way with a sixth-place finish with a time of 16:25.2. Noe Ortega placed eighth at a time of 16:48.5 and Jake Beck placed 10th at 18:02.5.
Up next, the Saints will head to the Green River Gator Cross in Steilacoom, Washington on Sept. 13.
