TRACY, Calif. — The Saint Martin's Softball team split day one of the NorCal Crossover on Friday, February 27, defeating Cal Poly Humboldt and falling to Cal State Monterey Bay.
Day one of the NorCal Crossover moved the Saints's record to 7-5 overall, with three games remaining in the tournament over the next two days.
Game 1: Saints Martin's 1, Cal Poly Humboldt 0
- Bridget Johnson pitched a gem for Saint Martin's in the first game of the tournament, throwing a seven-inning shutout.
- Through a scoreless first two innings, Johnson allowed only one hit and struck out four batters.
- The game remained a pitcher's dual through the first five and a half innings of scoreless softball, before the Saints scored the pivotal run in the bottom of the sixth.
- After Amanda Griffiths led the inning off with a walk, Haley Agena later advanced the runner to second, before a Shelby Lawson single set up runners on the corners with one out.
- Heather Ebner reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Elissa Dewees and giving the Saints a 1-0 lead.
- Johnson put away the Lumberjacks in the top of the seventh with a three-up, three-down innings, securing the win for Saint Martin's.

Game 2: Saint Martin's 4, Cal State Monterey Bay 10
- After a neck-and-neck start to the game, a massive eight-run inning by the Otters in the bottom of the third ultimately tipped the scales.
- In the top of the first inning, Heather Ebner hit a home run to right center to score Shelby Lawson and give Saint Martin's a 2-0 lead.
- Cal State Monterey Bay answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first, doing so off a single and sacrifice fly.
- The Otters erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third, starting off the inning with nine consecutive hits and building a 10-2 advantage. Amanda Peterson was able to retire three batters in order to end the inning.
- The Saints cut into the deficit in the top of the fifth inning, as Shelby Lawson singled to score Amanda Griffiths and Heather Ebner founded out to score Haley Agena, moving the score to 10-4.
- Saint Martin's kept Cal State Monterey Bay off the board for every inning after the third, but were unable to cut into the deficit any further and fell by a final score of 10-4.
