The Saint Martin's Men's and Women's Track programs competed admirably this weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California and at the Larry Byerly Invitational in Portland, Oregon.
The Saints saw new school records set by Ryan Doidge and Kekaihulali Halpern, along with two additional program top-10 marks and 15 total career-best marks.
How It HappenedÂ
Bryan Clay Invitational
- In the men's pole vault, Ryan Doidge cleared 4.50 meters on his first try, 4.65 meters on his third jump, 4.80 meters on his first jump, and then cleared a new school record 4.90 meters on his third attempt. Doidge placed fourth overall in the men's pole vault invite.
- Kekaihulali Halpern continued to improve on a stellar freshman season, setting a new school record in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:12.76. She placed 21st in the women's 800 meters Open B division.
- Halpern also set a new top-10 mark in the 1,500 meters, clocking in at 4:33.56.
- In the men's hammer throw, Gage Pedro placed fifth overall with a throw of 54.60 meters.
- In men's javelin, Zander Peck placed eighth with a throw of 56.98 meters.
Larry Byerly Invitational
- Kekaimalino Halpern set a new program top-10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 11:54.18 to place ninth.
- In the men's 800 meters, Tyler Scott placed seventh with a time of 1:55.54, a new career best.
- Matthias White placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:55.12 for a new personal best.
- Samantha Schweppe clocked in at 41:50.02 in the 10,000 meters, placing eighth.
