JohnsoBELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Softball team played a four-game series at Western Washington this weekend, falling in the series 1-3.
The series moved the Saints' record to 29-17 overall and 14-6 in GNAC play. Saint Martin's and Western Washington are now tied for first place in the GNAC standings.
During the series, senior Shelby Lawson recorded her 200th career hit.
Game 1: Saint Martin's 4, Western Washington 5 (9 innings)
- After a scoreless two innings to start game one, Western Washington broke the tie with two runs in the bottom of the third. Saint Martin's evened the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth, as Taylor Orgeles singled in a run and Jennessy Lopez hit a sacrifice fly to score Kaylee Walker.
- The Vikings bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth off a two-run home run.
- Saint Martin' trimmed the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fifth, as Heather Ebner doubled to score Haley Agena.
- The Saints evened the score at 4-4 in the top of the seventh, as Elissa Dewees scored on an error.
- The game went to extra innings, before a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth allowed WWU to capture a 5-4 victory.

Game 2: Saint Martin's 3, Western Washington 7
- The Saints were held scoreless through the first five innings, as the Vikings built up a 7-0 lead with one run scored in each of the second, third, and fifth innings, along with an emphatic four-run inning in the bottom of the fourth.
- Saint Martin's rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth, doing so off RBI hits from Shelby Lawson, Jennessy Lopez, and Kaylee Walker. The Saints were unable to make up any further ground, falling 7-3.

Game 3: Saint Martin's 7, Western Washington 6
- In game three, the Saints scored one run in the top of the first with a groundout by Jennessy Lopez that scored Haley Agena.
- After a low-scoring start to the game, Saint Martin's scored one run in the top of the fourth off a sacrifice fly from Kendalyn Cordeiro-Felise.
- The Vikings made a major push in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six runs. The Saints ended the run with a strikeout by Amanda Peterson with runners on first and third. Kayla Vaughan came in to record the save, as the Saints held the Vikings scoreless in the bottom of the seventh and won 7-6.

Game 4: Saint Martin's 2, Western Washington 10 (6 Innings)
- After falling behind 0-1 in the bottom of the second, the Saints tied the game with an RBI single from Shelby Lawson in the top of the third that scored Emilee Morris.
- The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, before an RBI double by Heather Ebner in the top of the fifth trimmed the deficit to 3-2.
- The Vikings pushed ahead 4-2 with one run in the bottom of the fifth, before erupting for six runs in the bottom of the sixth, ending the game in an eight-run rule loss for the Saints.
