SEATTLE, Wash. — The Saint Martin's Volleyball team lost its GNAC road matchup at Seattle Pacific in three sets on Saturday, September 19.

The Saints came within three points in two of the sets, but the Falcons ultimately pulled away to win the match in a sweep. The loss dropped the Saints' record to 5-6 on the year and 1-2 in GNAC play.

How It Happened

• The Saints fell behind 8-3 early in the first set, but a 5-1 run midway through brought the frame within 12-11. Saint Martin's later tied the game at 15-15, before a 4-0 shortly after saw the Saints push ahead 19-16. SPU went on a massive 9-3 run to close out the set and take the first frame 25-23.
• The second set was the most one-sided of the match, as the Falcons rode an 8-0 run midway through the set and a late 7-2 run that saw the Saints defeated 25-14.
• Saint Martin's pulled ahead 11-7 early in the third frame and led as late as 15-13, but a game-changing 9-1 run by Seattle Pacific flipped the script and saw the Saints fall behind 22-16. The Saints pushed back with a 6-1 run later in the frame to pull within 24-23, but the Falcons won the final point to take the frame 25-23 and win the match in three sets.

Top Performers

• Emily Garten and Olivia Bassett each led the Saints with nine kills.
• Sophie Fast led all players with 19 assists.
• Ashli Lum recorded a team-high 12 digs, while Emily Garten totaled 11 and Tiffany Lam had nine.

The Saints will host their home openers next week, playing Northwest Nazarene on Sept. 25 and Central Washington on Sept. 27. Both games will be played at Evergreen State College.
