Jonathan McMillan started his role as Assistant Director of Recreation on June 22, 2026.
McMillan joins Saint Martin's with more than eight years of experience in higher education and student-centered program management. Most recently, he has served in outreach and student support roles at South Puget Sound College, while also operating a successful small business in Olympia. Prior to that, he spent three years as Assistant Athletic Director at Centralia College, where he oversaw athletic operations, budget management, student-athlete support initiatives, and departmental communications.
"We are excited to welcome Jonathan to Saint Martin's University as our new Assistant Director of Recreation, "Director of Athletics Theresa Hanson said. "His diverse background in both athletics and business has prepared him well for this role, and we are confident his leadership will help enhance the recreation experience and create meaningful opportunities for our students to connect, engage, and thrive.
In addition to his athletic administration experience, McMillan served as an Upward Bound Specialist through the TRIO program at Centralia College, helping guide and support students in achieving their academic goals. Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation for strong leadership, operational excellence, and student advocacy.
McMillan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Centralia College, graduating with honors and earning recognition on the President's List. He also holds an Associate in Arts degree in Communication.
As Assistant Director of Recreation, McMillan will oversee recreational programming, student engagement initiatives, facility operations, and wellness opportunities designed to enhance the student experience at Saint Martin's University.
