Kyle Nelson joined Saint Martin's as the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine & Wellness in November of 2025.

Nelson comes to Saint Martin's with over 20 years of athletic training experience at the collegiate level. A charismatic and experienced athletic trainer from the Pacific Northwest, Nelson's primary responsibilities will involve keeping Saint Martin's athletes healthy and performing at the highest level.

"We are excited to welcome Kyle Nelson to Saint Martin's University as our new Assistant AD, Sports Medicine & Wellness!" Athletic Director Theresa Hanson said. "With extensive experience in collegiate athletics and a strong focus on student-athlete wellbeing, he is a tremendous addition to our team. His previous work at Concordia University–Portland gives him a valuable familiarity with the GNAC and an immediate connection to our conference community."  

Nelson joins Saint Martin's after most recently serving as athletic trainer at ActionOnsite since March 2024. At ActionOnsite, Nelson provided ergonomic assessments, job coaching, injury prevention, injury care, and injury rehabilitation for employees working in an industrial setting.

A Portland State University graduate, Nelson earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health. Nelson served as director of sports medicine at his alma mater from May 2020 to March of 2024. Previously, Nelson spent seven years as senior associate athletics director of sports medicine at Concordia University-Portland.

Nelson has previous experience as head athletic trainer at the University of Portland (2003-09), The Evergreen State College (2000-03), and Gavilan Community College (1998-2000).

"I am very excited to join the Saint Martin's Athletic Department," Nelson said. "There is amazing potential in Saint Martin's Athletics for continued success and further growth. I am excited to be a part of that success and growth. I look forward to meeting the rest of the staff as well as the student-athletes."
