FOREST GROVE, Ore. - In the final half of events of the men's Decathlon and Women's Heptathlon,
Ashley Vest and
Tiffany Pott each earned scoring positions while
Craig Boyle finished 11th overall in the field at the Boxer Combined Events, hosted by Pacific University.
DAY ONE STORY
Vest entered the day with 2294 points, and wrapped the day with 469 points in the long jump (4.66-m), 469 points in the javelin (29.60-m), and finally a strong showing in the 800-meter dash at 2:43.14 minutes for 537 points. Vest finished with total score of 3769, earning her seventh place and two points for Saint Martin's. Finishing just behind her in eighth, also earning a point for SMU, Pott scored 479, 488, and 448 points in the three events for a total of 3607. Pott recorded marks of 4.70-m in the long jump, 30.61-m in the javelin and 2:51.52 in the 800-meter dash.
On the men's side, Boyle started the events with 2403 points, before attempting the discuss (27.94-m), pole vault (3.65-m), javelin (31.27-m) and lastly the 1500 meter (6:15.00 minutes). Boyle earned 309, 424, 522, 317, and 206 points in the events, ending with a score of 4181.Â
