Brandon Madsen Scores Twice As Saints Earn First Point In Conference –Scoring in just two minutes apart for his sixth and seventh goals of the season, Brandon Madsen led the Saints' attack in the 2-2 double overtime draw against Concordia University on Thursday. In the 15th minute, the Saints (0-9-1, 0-4-1) capitalized on a free kick opportunity, with Stephen Todd Murray JR's pass finding Madsen in the middle of the box to give the Saints a quick 1-0 lead. Sebastian Navarro and Murray JR were each credited with an assist on the goal. Just 1:11 minutes later on the scoreboard, Madsen struck again against the Cavaliers (2-5-2, 1-2-1) when Joey Mack's pass found Madsen open in the middle of the field for his team leading seventh goal of the season. The Saints held on to the 2-0 lead going into halftime. Within the first four minutes of the second half, the Cavaliers got themselves on the scoreboard when Noah Swigart found the rebound off Griffin Small and connected for his third goal of the season. Six minutes later, Concordia delivered the tying blow on a goal from Kieran McMinn, his second of the season. The score remained locked at 2-2 through the regular 90 minutes and went into overtime. The Cavaliers connected for one shot in each of the overtime periods, while the Saints fired off two shots in double overtime. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net one final time, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.  "Getting a point today is a step in the right direction," said head coach Rob Walker. "When it comes to securing the victory though, we've got to continue working on being more fluid and surer footed going forward. Brandon Madsen's two goals were really a bright part of the game and Kyle Witzel's support of Madsen was excellent. The boys throughout the game even when Concordia pulled even at two, really met the bar." Madsen led the way with five shots, three on goal and two goals while Kyle Witzel recorded four shots and two on goal. Navarro, Cayman John and Edgar Iniguez each managed two shots in the match.
