Saints Fall In Five Innings To Dixie State 4-2

ST GEORGE, Utah – In a five-inning rain shorten game, the Saints fell 4-2 to Dixie State on the road in Utah on Saturday.

To lead-off the ball game, Isaac Hagerman doubled to left field, advanced to third on a groundball and scored on a pass ball to give the Saints (0-2) an early 1-0 lead.

The Trailblazers (7-3) responded in the bottom half of the first with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring the tying run. Dixie State took the lead in the second inning after Trey Kamachi singled on a bunt and later created a rundown that scored the third run of the game.

SMU answered back in the top of the third when Zach Raczok singled to lead-off and advanced to second a ground out. Hagerman singled to right field, driving in Raczok and cut the Trailblazers' lead to 3-2 after three.

Dixie State would add an insurance run in the bottom of the third to expand their lead to 4-2 and hung on for the shortened five inning victory.

Ryan Dorney (0-1) pitched the entire game for the Saints, giving up four runs, one earned, on five hits, walking three and struck out one.

Hagerman collected two of the three hits for the Saints scoring once and driving in one run. Adam Eskil tallied the only other hit for SMU, while Trevor Young reached base twice on two walks.

Up Next: The Saints second game of the day was cancelled due to rain and SMU will face Dixie State again tomorrow to finish up their trip to Utah. Time for first pitch is scheduled for 11:30 am but subject to change due to weather.
