SEATTLE, Wash. - The Saints got on the board with a goal in the 82nd minute after
Lauren Allison connected on a
Shea McKnight pass but ultimately fell 4-1 to Seattle Pacific in their first GNAC match of the year.
The Falcons (4-2-0, 2-0-0) jumped out to an early lead on the Saints (0-6-0, 0-1-0) with a goal in the 11th minute. In the closing minutes of the first half, the Falcons struck again to increase their lead to 2-0 going into halftime.
SPU tacked on their third goal of the match and second from Julia DeVere in the 63rd minute of the match. The fourth and final goal for Seattle Pacific came 12 minutes later after a couple give and go passes lead to an open shot for Simone Herzberg.
The Saints, looking for their first goal in the month of September, found the back of the net after
Lauren Allison turned loose on a ball 17 yards out, center of the field to back left of the goal. The goal marked the first goal for Allison and she was assisted by
Shea McKnight.
"I wish the result reflected the way we played today," said head coach
Heather Cato. "I'm so proud of how the ladies came together and competed all the way to the end. We talked about getting one percent better everyday and today we took a big step in that direction."
Ali Koehler made the start at keeper, making 9 saves on 21 shots faced, with the team making the 10th save of the match.
Brittany Orlosky,
Kylee Sarchett and McKnight each recorded three shots with
Dulce Armas putting her one shot on goal.
