Saints Victorious in California - The Saints started the 2017 season off on the right foot after taking three out of four in the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Classic last week. SMU narrowly fell to St. Cloud State before rallying against Fresno Pacific in straight sets, defeating Adelphi, 3-2, and sweeping host team Cal State San Marcos. The first time in the NCAA era that SMU swept a host school in a tournament. The Saints were powered by
Rebecca Mitchell who tied her career-high in kills with 20 before breaking that mark with 21 against Cal State San Marcos, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament team. Joining Mitchell on the All-Tournament team was
Rachel Gondrezick (52 kills, 3.71 kills per set, 55.5 points) and
Nicolette Nesbitt (150 assists, 10,7 assists per set). Freshman recorded 16 kills, managed seven total blocks, and five service aces. Another freshman,
Kamille Langford, impressed in her Saints' debut with 18 kills and eight total blocks, six of which were solo.

Saints Host D-II West Region Volleyball Showcase - Saint Martin's University will host a section of the West Region Volleyball Showcase where six participating schools from the NCAA D-II West Region will face off in a three-day, 12 match tournament. Each school will play four matches against opponents from outside their conference.

Recent success in tournaments - Under second year head coach
Jon Killingbeck, the saints improved to 7-1 in tournament action after winning three in California last week. Since the start of 1999, Killingbeck's 7 tournament wins are the most of any head coach at Saint Martin's.
