PORTLAND, Ore. – Led by the efforts of
Colton Buster and
Jack Farrell, who set career best times, the Saints placed fifth on the men's side, while
Alyssa Robinson's new career best lifted the women to a sixth place at the Warner Pacific Cross Country Classic.

In what proved to be a record setting day for the Saints on the course, six men and two women set career best times. Buster finished first for the men and 26th overall with a time of 26:23.6, beating his career best by over 20 seconds. Following suit was
Jack Farrell, who was second on the team and 33rd overall with a time of 26:36.7, 30 seconds better than his career low.
Andrew Oslin put together another impressive 8k, finishing with a time of 26:48.2 and placed 36th overall in the field.
Levi Schilter was 40th overall with his time of 27:01.7, and rounding out the scoring for SMU was
Miguel De LaMelena with his mark of 27:37.9 minutes. Also setting new personal records was
Noah Roberts (27:50.5),
Joe Phinazee (29:33.3),
Braden Stowers (30:46.8), and
Joshua Tanicala (32:54.0).
Robinson continues to headline the Saints in the absence of
Lindsey Dorney. Robinson, who finished first on the team for the second straight race, set a new personal record with her time of 20:16.0 and placed 34th overall. Finishing back-to-back was
Yeshi Vaughan and
Sadie Dalgleish with times of 20:43.2 and 20:47.5 minutes respectively and 38th and 39th overall.
Closing out the top five finishers on the women's side was
Eliza Bannister and
Olivia Abbott. Bannister shaved nearly 10 seconds off her personal best and finished with a time of 21:43.0 minutes. Abbott was 59th overall with her time of 23:10.1 minutes.
"The Saints ran great today, especially in the men's race," said head coach
Jim Brewer. "Colton (Buster) ran a smart race as he continued to pick up each 2k loop and really pushed the final lap. On the women's side, Alyssa (Robinson) led our ladies from the start to the finish and set a PR in the process."
As a team, the Saints on the men's side finished fifth out of 11 teams with a score of 136 and an average time of 26:53 minutes. On the women's side of action, the Saints were sixth with 164 points and an average time of 21:19 minutes.
The Saints travel on October 20 to Western Washington for the their final regular season meet of the year. The race is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
