LACEY, Wash. – Behind
Kim Nelson' complete game and
Lindsay Miller and
Lauren Maley's combined one-run game, the Saints extended their win streak to six games and clinched the season series with Concordia after 7-3 and 2-1 victories.
Kylie Lopez and
Regan Byrd supplied five RBIs to support
Kim Nelson (5-3) who returned to throw a complete game, giving up three runs on 10 hits while punching out three Cavs. In the second game, Concordia took an early 1-0 before a RBI extra base hits by
Lauren Diuco and
Nicki DeHan lifted the Saints to a 2-1 victory.
The Saints (15-12, 5-5) jumped on the Cavs (16-16, 3-7) early on a RBI single by Lopez, scoring
Tessani Dixon. In the second inning,
Paige Miller added to the lead with a RBI single to center field, bringing home
Sabrina Hicks.
Saint Martin's broke open the lead in third inning, using three straight singles and three errors by Concordia to add three runs. Concorida got on the board in the fourth inning with a two run home run to left center.
The Saints added two insurance runs in the sixth inning on a RBI double for Lopez, scoring both L. Miller and P. Miller as SMU cruised to a 7-3 victory.
In the second bill of the doubleheader, Concordia scored their lone run of the game in the top of the third on a single up the middle. The Saints responded quickly, tying the game in the bottom of the third when Diuco doubled to left field, bringing home P. Miller.
In the fourth inning, with two outs, Byrd singled to left, and scored the next at-bat when DeHan tripled to center field, putting SMU up 2-1.
Lauren Maley came in at the start of the third, and closed the door in the top of the seventh, with a runner on first, with a strikeout.
Maley (10-8) picked up her conference leading 10th win of the season after throwing five innings, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
Lindsay Miller got the start, going two shutout innings, and got a doubleplay in the second inning.
