MONMOUTH, Ore. – Western Oregon put a hurting on Saint Martin's in the first game, winning 22-4 before rallying in the second game to sweep the Saints 8-6 to wrap up the four game series.
The Wolves collected 22 runs on 26 hits in the first game to roll past the Saints before SMU jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the second game.
Adam Eskil drove in five runs in the first three innings, highlighted by a three run home run, to cap off his two home run, seven RBI day. However, the Wolves managed to drive in three in the third inning and four in the fifth to secure the series.
Western Oregon used eight RBI singles and five RBI doubles to amount for a majority of their 22 runs in the first game. WOU largest inning was the fourth inning where they scored nine runs.
In the second game, the Saints were able to shake off the first game and jump out to an early 3-0 lead on a home run by Eskil, his third straight game with a home run. Western Oregon added one in the bottom half of the first inning.
Eskil once again continued to wreak havoc on the Wolves, scoring two more runs in the third inning on a single to center.
Jake Leonard added the final run, scoring Eskil on a double, extending the lead to 6-1.
Western Oregon began chipping away, starting with three runs in the third inning before a four run fifth leading put the Wolves on top 8-6. The score remained 8-6 as Western Oregon completed the four-game sweep of the Saints.
The Saints conclude their six week road trip with a four game series at Montana State Billings next weekend.
