LACEY, Wash. – The Saints launched a volley of attacks at the Warner Pacific, connecting on 38 shots, 20 landing on goal, and four reaching the back of the net, for a 4-1 exhibition victory.
Selesha Harrah got the Saints on the board first with a goal in the 13th minute. Warner Pacific scored an equalizer in the second half, before
Kiersten Madsen connected for a goal in the 61st minute and a PK in the 83rd minute. The final blow came in the 89th on a
Gloria Petri goal to secure the victory.
If the match had counted for official stats, the school record for most shots in a single game was 24; however, the Saints would have blown that record out of water, hitting 17 shots in the first half and 21 in the second half for a total of 38.
Jessica Moskowitz assisted on two goals, the Harrah and first Madsen goal, earning two points.
Kylee Sarchett and
Jade Castaneda each also earned assists on the day.
Goalkeeper
Ali Koehler faced eight shots on the day, saving two of the three shots on goal.
Sarchett led the team with seven shots and four shots on goal with Madsen adding six shots and four on goal.
Amber Burbridge added five shots, three on goal after coming into the game, and Castaneda managed four shots.
"This was a great way to set a tone for how we want our season to go," said head coach
Heather Cato. "Being early in teh season, we still have things to work on, but overall I was happy with the opportunities we created as a team as well as how we battled defensively."
The Saints head out of the state for their next exhibition match, traveling to Portland, Oregon for a matchup with Lewis & Clark College on 8/26 at 2:00 p.m.
