LACEY, Wash. – Saint Martin's found the spark in the offense that they had missing over the last couple of matches, with three Saints collected double-digit kills. Despite the offense, Northwest Nazarene was able to defeat the Saints in four sets, 25-16, 25-23, 13-25, 25-10.
 
In the opening set, Northwest Nazarene controlled through out, jumping to an early 11-5 lead. SMU started to pick up momentum near the end but fell 25-16.
 
The momentum carried over into the second set, with Saint Martin's quickly leading 7-2. Northwest Nazarene responded with a 9-1 run of their own to gain back the lead. Saint Martin's fought back and eventually regained the lead at 20-19, before NNU closed out the set on a 6-3 run for a 2-0 lead.
 
The third set was knotted at 7-7 before Saint Martin's offense put the set out of reach. SMU outscored the Nighthawks 18-6 down the stretch, and hit .464 as a team, in one of their best sets in all of 2019.
 
However, the momentum did not carry over in the fourth and final set, with Northwest Nazarene making quick work for SMU 25-10.
 
Emily Gooding set a new career high in kills, collecting 13 on the night, along with four digs, and two blocks. Mackenzie Carter featured her third double-double of the season, with 12 kills, and a career high 18 digs. Ililani Kamaka also set a season high in kills with 12. Alyssa Bartlett put together an all-around match with 38 assists, nine digs, five kills, four aces, and a block. Kylie Alos came up 27 digs in the back row.
