MONMOUTH, Ore. –

Gracie Brenner, and
Emily Gooding combined for 42 kills to fuel the Saints' offense against Western Oregon. Despite the team effort, the Wolves captured the four set victory over SMU on Saturday afternoon.
Western Oregon jumped out to an early lead in the opening set and never looked back. The Saints were able to get within one, but were never able to tie the score, and eventually fell 25-19.
Saint Martin's controlled the early goings of the second set, and held a lead until the 14-10 mark. The turning point of the set came with a 7-0 run by the Wolves as they regained the lead and carried it towards a 25-20 set victory.
In the third set, the Saints outpowered the Wolves with 18 kills and a team hitting percentage of .375. Both sides traded blows back-and-forth with the score tied 19-19 before the Saints closed out the set on a 6-0 run to win 25-19.
Western Oregon responded quickly taking a 20-13 lead to regain the momentum. Saint Martin's managed to trim down the lead to three but was unable to complete the comeback, falling 25-20.
Carter led the offense with 16 kills on 42 attempts, while also collecting seven digs, and a solo block. Gooding and Brenner combined for 13 kills apiece, with the mark being a new season high for Brenner.
Alyssa Bartlett led with 46 assists, while
Kylie Alos managed 25 digs in the backrow.
