CHAMBERS BAY, Wash. –
Elaina Hansen on the women's side, and Nick Sarysz on the men's powered the Saints with their top performances at the Joe Payne/Curtis Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Washington.
Sarysz placed 22nd overall in the race with his mark of 26:25.9 minutes, which broke his personal record by nearly 18 seconds. Finishing back-to-back was
Marcus Rice and
Andrew Oslin in 31st and 32nd respectively. Rice marked a time of 26:43.2 and Oslin came in at 26:43.6 minutes, which was a personal best for Oslin.
Rounding out the scoring for the Saints on the men's side was
Zach Franco at 28:07.5 minutes, and right behind him was
Miguel De LaMelena at 28:08.0 minutes. The two placed 49th and 50th overall respectively.
Finishing in a pack was
Jaskaran Dhatt,
Guillaume Tabary,
John Gerchak, and
Noah Roberts from 57th to 60th place overall.
Over on the women's race, it was once again Hansen leading the way. The freshman has now finished first on the team in each of the first three races. Hansen's time of 19:14.3 was good enough for 24th overall, and personal best by 30 seconds.
Bethany Forward came in second on the team and 30th overall with her mark of 19:35.2, which was also a personal best by nearly 23 seconds.
Naomi Hartley joined in with a new personal best with a time of 20:16.3 minutes, and a 39th finish.
Kendyl Otter keep the personal best streak going with her time of 20:35 minutes, placing 41st. Closing out the scoring was
Kierla Yates at 21:24.6 minutes, another personal best, and a 44th place finish.
Maiya Martinez closed out the race with her time of 23:27.4 minutes.
Saint Martin's travels to Bellingham, Washington for their next meet on Saturday, October 12 at Western Washington.
