PORTLAND, Ore. – Fighting through the cold rain, the Saints' struggled in all aspects of the game as the undefeated Corban Warriors quickly made work of Saint Martin's 14-1 in five innings to begin the Cavalier Classic.
Corban got on the board early, scoring two runs in the first on a RBI double, followed by a single to center field. However, the Warriors widen the gap in the third inning, adding five runs on four RBI hits, and the final run coming on a wild pitch.
Saint Martin's scored their lone run of the game in the top of the fourth when Kylie Vanderbout drove home
Nicki DeHan on a sac fly to left.
Corban did a majority of their damage in the fifth inning, scoring another seven runs, with two coming from an RBI double, three on wild pitches, one on a sac fly, and one on a bases-loaded walk.
Devyn Connolly collected two of the Saints' four hits, with
Kylie Lopez and
Emily Thornton each picking up one hit. The Saints used all four pitchers with
Lauren Maley (0-4) getting the start and the loss.
