Saints' Soccer Falls In Overtime To Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Saint Martin's and Dominican were not able to find the finishing touch in the first 90 minutes of action, forcing an overtime period. However, five minutes in, Dominican capitalized on the golden goal and escaped with a 1-0 victory.

The Saints' defense, led by freshman goalie Ali Campigotto, faced 14 shots, making four saves in regular time. However, in overtime, the first shot by Dominican was able to end the match.

Saint Martin's had limited opportunities to get on the board, recording six shots, while only two were on target.

Coming off the bench, Maddie Haggard and Maia Larsen provided the offense, combining for three shots and two on goal. Shea McKnight, who scored the Saints' lone goal yesterday, recorded one shot, along with Maddie Wolff, and Kiersten Madsen.

"I'm proud of the team and effort everyone put out there today," said head coach Heather Cato. "Three games in five games isn't easy especially with two overtime games. We had to grind it out today and that's exactly what we did. Although the results were not exactly what we had hoped for in California, we are getting closer to what we want everyday."

Saint Martin's travels to Portland, Oregon for their next match, hosting Humboldt State on the campus of Concordia. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
