LACEY, Wash. – Saint Martin's offense struggled to find their flow on Saturday night, falling at home to Seattle Pacific.
The Saints' (10-12, 3-9) three game win streak snapped after SMU collected 18 kills on 101 swings. Seattle Pacific (12-8, 8-5) used runs in the middle of the sets to pull away and capture their second road victory of the season.
In the opening set, Seattle Pacific pulled away with an 8-to-2 run in the middle of the set and closed out the set on SMU attacking errors.
The Saints and the Falcons went back and forth in the second set until the Falcons broke it open with a 6-to-2 run to make it 17-to-12. Saint Martin's cut the lead down to four before SPU closed out the set with four of the final five points.
SMU led the final set 8-to-6 early on two kills from
Tia Allen, and a service ace from
Gracie Brenner. Another 7-to-1 mid set run by the Falcons sealed the match, and Seattle Pacific clinched the victory.
Allen led the team with six kills, followed by
Emily Gooding's five, and
Kylie Coon's four.
Jennifer Soha and Allen combined for seven blocks, and
Kylie Alos recorded 12 digs in the back.
