Potential Starting Lineup – 

Saints Blank Yellowjackets For Third Victory Of The Year - Saint Martin's controlled every facet of the match against GNAC opponent Montana State Billings, shutting out the Yellowjackets 2-0 on a wet Thursday afternoon.

Battling the rain and tough field conditions, Saint Martin's (3-4-0, 2-1-0) dominated in almost every offensive category. The Saints recorded 20 shots to the Yellowjackets' (4-3-1, 1-2-0) 7, along with eight shots on target to MSUB's one.

Second Half Surge Propels SPU Past Saints - Saint Martin's faced a tough #7 nationally-ranked Seattle Pacific team and held them scoreless going into the half. The Falcons found their stride in the second half and defeated SMU, 3-0.

Saint Martin's (3-5-0, 2-2-0 GNAC) and Seattle Pacific (6-1-0, 3-1-0 GNAC) played a tightly contested first half, but neither team could manage to find the net. The Saints recorded four shots in the first half to SPU's seven. Maddie Wolff and Jordyn Jolley recorded the two shots on goal in the first half for SMU. Ali Campigotto recorded four saves in the first half of play to keep Seattle Pacific scoreless going into the half.

First Career Shutout – In the Saints’ 2-0 victory over Western Oregon, goalie Soph Mendoza recorded their first career shutout on 11 shots faced, and two saves.

Deadly From PK – Kiersten Madsen continues to fool keepers and punching in goals. Since the start of the spring 2021 season, Madsen has recorded 7 goals, five coming from PKs, and she is a perfect 5-for-5 on PK attempts.

6 in a Row – To date, the Saints’ six straight goals (four against Evergreen State, and two against Western Oregon) was the longest consecutive goals scored by SMU. The streak was broken with a goal by Simon Fraser.

No Place Like Home – In 2021, all three of the Saints’ wins have come at home, for a 3-2-0 record at Saints Field. 

GNAC Leaders – Maddie Wolff and Kiersten Madsen’s two goals are tied for eighth most in the GNAC. Rebecca Garrison’s two assists are tied for seventh most. Ali Campigotto is tied for fourth with one shutout, and fourth in saves at 24, and fourth in save percentage at .774.

Breaking Records – In their win over Evergreen State, the Saints recorded a school record 34 shots.

Clean Sheet Preseason – In the Saints’ three preseason matches, Saint Martin’s outscored their opponents by nine, while allowing zero goals. Saint Martin’s put up five goals in their first match against Centralia College, followed by three against Bushnell, and one against Northwest.

2021 Season Preview - The Saints' women soccer program enters 2021 with an influx of new talent ready to prove the GNAC wrong after being selected eighth in the GNAC Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The Falcons of Seattle Pacific look poised to claim the GNAC title, earning six of the eight first place votes to lead the way with 62 points. Western Washington, who received the final two, finished second at 57 points.

Northwest Nazarene (44 points), Central Washington (37), and Western Oregon (30) made the middle of the standings. Simon Fraser and MSU Billings tied for sixth at 22 points, followed by the Saints at 14.

There will be little to no questions in 2021 where the Saints' strengths lie in 2019 second team All-Conference goalkeeper Ali Campigotto returning. The sophomore started all 11 games for the Saints in the COVID 2020-21 season, recording 63 saves, with one shutout victory, and a .685 save percentage.

Leading the offense for SMU will be senior Kiersten Madsen, who broke out in 2020 with five goals, and an assist. Madsen scored four goals in a three-game span, and three of her five goals came from penalty kicks. Another veteran who will provide leadership will be defender Daeh Lindquist, who enters the season with over 3,000 minutes of experience in the backline.

However, the Saints are loaded with young promising talent, that saw some action in 2020. Freshman Rachel Kimura, and Payton Aselton both started 10 matches, and combined for one goal and three assists. Sophomores Taylor Goodpaster and Justine Pauly each punched home one goal in 2020.

Other notable returners include Elisabeth Cole, who saw action in all 11 matches, along with Mia Fleming, and Maddie Wolff in the midfield.

The Saints welcome nine new student-athletes who will take the field for the first time in 2021.
