Saints Held Scoreless North Of The Border - Simon Fraser struck quick, and efficiently, scoring two goals in the opening 12 minutes to overcome Saint Martin's on Saturday night.

Hunter Askland got the start in goal, recording three saves on 13 shots faced. Fairhurst took four of the Saints' eight shots, with four different Saints recording one each.

Fairhurst Scores Pair to Lead Saints past NNU - Jason Fairhurst scored a goal in both halves to give Saint Martin's the season sweep against conference opponent Northwest Nazarene.

SMU (3-12-0, 2-6-0 GNAC) and the Nighthawks (6-8-0, 3-5-0 GNAC) battled all through the first half as both teams brought their best defense despite the downpour of rain. The turning point of the match came late in the first half, as Arjun Gill delivered a great pass to Fairhurst that led to the first goal of the match in the 39th minute. The Saints went into the half with a 1-0 lead.

After the break, Saint Martin's extended their lead with another Fairhurst goal off of a beautiful set up from Ethan Jud and David Settle in the 71st minute of the match. NNU responded with a goal of their own in the 80th minute, but SMU fended off all other late attempts to tie the match to secure the win at home.

Climbing Up The Record Boards – Entering 2021, Jason Fairhurst was tied for seventh in Saints’ history for most career goals at 10. On the year, Fairhurst has claimed sixth place for himself with seven goals, bringing his total to 17. He is currently two goals behind Ruben Orozco (2007-2010) for fifth place. Jose Marquez has suited up for 77 matches, the most all-time in Saint Martin’s history.

GNAC Leaders – Jason Fairhurst enters the week third with seven goals scored, third in points at 17, tied for eighth in assist at three, and fifth in shots at 34. Hunter Askland is first in the GNAC with 59 saves.

Career Firsts – Ethan Jud notched his first career goal against Northeastern State on September 16. Diego Andrade, and Isaac Hernandez recorded their first SMU goals against UC Colorado Springs on September 17.

Clean Preseason – The Saints began their 2021 with two victories in two exhibition matches beginning with a 2-1 victory over Linfield. SMU followed up with a decisive 4-0 result against Columbia Basin.

Saints Tabbed Fifth In GNAC Preseason Poll - Saint Martin's men's soccer enters the 2021 campaign with a young, but experienced team, after playing 10 matches in the 2020-21 COVID season. The Saints were voted tied for fifth in the GNAC Preseason Poll with Northwest Nazarene.

MSOC First Ever All-American – Brandon Madsen made history for the Saints in the 2019 season, receiving a first-ever program All-American title, along with many other accolades. Madsen ended his final season as a Saint with the most goals scored in a single season at Saint Martin's with 18, along with four assists for 40 total points. Last season, Madsen earned GNAC player of the Year, GNAC first team All-Conference, voted to the D2CCA first team All-Region, United Soccer Coaches third team All-Region, and finally D2CCA second team All-American. Madsen finished his career with 47 goals, nine assists, 103 points, and finished second all-time in GNAC in goals scored in just three seasons as a Saint.
