LACEY, Wash. – For the second straight week, the opposing defense struggled to find any sort of answer for
Claire Dingus, as the junior was named back-to-back GNAC Player of the Week on Monday.
COMPLETE RELEASE
Dingus began the week with an 11-point, five rebound performance against Seattle Pacific. However, her biggest imp act came on the defensive end. Dingus ran the top of Saints' 1-3-1 zone that helped SMU erase a 16-point deficit and knock off the Falcons' 55-to-54. Dingus came away with two steals and played in 38 minutes of action.
The following night, Dingus, once again at the head of the zone, forced three steals, along with a team-leading 21 points, and four rebounds. It marked the third 20+ point game for Dingus in four games. She converted on 8-for-15 attempts and once again played in 38 minutes.
For the week, Dingus averaged 16.0 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, in 38 minutes of action.
The award marks the second straight for Dingus this season, and the second of the year for the Saints.
