NAMPA, Idaho – The bats for Saint Martin's never got going as the Saints suffered back-to-back shutout losses to close the four-game series against Northwest Nazarene.
Saint Martin's (8-8, 0-4 GNAC) limited the high-scoring offense of Northwest Nazarene (14-2, 4-0 GNAC) to only seven runs on the day. However, the Saints' fell in both ends, 4-0 and 3-0, extending their losing streak to six straight.
In the opener, the Saints had an opportunity to score right away, loading the bases with two outs before a strikeout ended the inning. In the third and sixth inning, the Saints threated again, putting runners in scoring position before falling short.
Lexi Carlos (0-1) got the start in the circle, but was unable to get an out before allowing two runs.
Savannah Owen pitched the final six innings, allowing two more runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.
In the finale,
Abby Runyon (4-4) tossed a complete game, going six, allowing three runs on four strikeouts. The Saints managed only two hits in the game, with runners reaching scoring position in both the first and the seventh on
